Biopharmaceutical plants use the concepts of Biotechnology to develop important medicines that can cure common as well as crucial diseases. These useful medicines are produced from the cells of micro-organisms and also from the plant cell cultures and all the production procedures are carried out in bioreactors having different configurations. The genetic modification of plants and animals is called as a controversial method as the manufacturer puts him into a risky situation because there are chances of failure. In some cases, the research work may be successful but the final medicine produced may not be approved by the government bodies because of some of the risks and ethical concerns. The developed medicine is not approved and released for commercialization in case it does not clears the guidelines set by "current Good Manufacturing Practices" (cGMP) and regulations prescribed by FDA.
These plants have numerous applications. It has contributed a lot towards the medical world by manufacturing several medicines that are highly efficient and fight against the most deadly diseases.
