Biotechnological Plants Possess Unlimited Potential For Drug Production

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Biotechnology has left remarkable foot prints in its different fields of application such as agriculture, food addictive industries, etc. But its active involvement in the spheres of medical science has led dramatic changes in the pharmaceutical world. It has made possible to deal with inadvertent situations raised due to the lack of medical incentives and enabled healthcare facilities to provide assistance to patients suffering from health disorders.

Biotechnological plants involve biological process of synthesis and, drugs are extracted from animal and plant species. They are believed to be safe with respect to side-effects of usage of their medications. They employ emerging technologies like genetic engineering, genomics, plant and animal cell-tissue culture, etc. and various sophisticated tools in their manufacturing processes.

These plants address and combine knowledge from several branches of medical science including cell biology, genetics, microbiology, embryology, biochemistry and molecular biology. The acquired comprehensive knowledge and concepts on these fields are utilized in the drug development process. The techniques such as artificial selection, breeding and hybridization are employed to produce quality plants and animals, which can facilitate the improved qualities of pharmaceutical productions.

The active biotechnologically developed pharmaceuticals and drug products occupy a big volume of pharmaceutical market. As they use natural resources and involve easy methods to prepare drugs, the medicines are cost-effective and affordable to poor people. Drop Shipping Can Help You Sell Merchandise Without Stocking Them

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Drop shipping is used by manufacturers and wholesalers as a marketing technique to sell their products at little cost. For the retail sellers, drop shipping is a low cost option to sell products without stocking merchandise. It is thus a win-win situation for both.

Drop Shipping Explained

  • No Merchandise Stocking: Unlike the traditional retailers, the retail seller under a drop shipping arrangement does not stock the merchandise. Instead, the drop ship retailer passes on all orders received to the wholesaler or manufacturer.

  • Shipments under Your Name: The wholesaler or manufacturer then ships the order directly to the customer indicated by the drop ship retailer. This might be done in a way to make the shipment seem to have come from the retailer. Private labeling or attaching a customized packing slip with the retailer's name, address, contact details and logo might be used to achieve this end.

  • Profits & Payments: The drop ship retailer sells at a price higher than the wholesale price. The margin between the retail and wholesale prices constitute the drop ship retailer's earnings. While the customer pays the retailer, the latter pays the wholesaler as agreed in the drop shipping contract.

How Does the Drop Ship Retailer Sell?

The drop ship retailer can use different methods to sell the merchandise. Some of these are outlined below:

  • Online Promotions: The drop ship seller might put up a website with product sales copy and then promote that site using Web Site Promotion techniques. The retailer can also conduct Email Marketing Campaigns to sell the merchandise.

  • Online Auctions: The seller might list the items at online auction sites like eBay and profit from the difference between the bid price and his costs (wholesale price plus listing/promotional costs).

  • Offline Promotion: The seller might keep a few samples to show to prospective customers and pass customer orders to the manufacturer/wholesaler. Alternatively, the retailer can conduct a direct marketing campaign using a product brochure or other promotional material.

Whatever approach (or combination of approaches) the drop ship retailer uses, the selling prices and volumes must be sufficient to recover the amounts paid to the supplier plus the marketing costs. It is hence important for the drop ship retailer to be a good marketer.

Drop Shipping Success

  • Marketing Skill: You have to organize convincing sales copy that will appeal to your customers. You will then have to promote your business to bring your offer to numerous prospective customers to achieve sales volumes.

  • Product Selection: Even the best marketers would find it tough to achieve sales and volumes if they are selling something that large numbers of other sellers are selling in the same market. So you will have to select a product that has less competition, say, a niche product.

  • Drop Shipper Selection: You will have to locate genuine drop shippers - wholesalers or manufacturers - instead of working with another retailer who is masquerading as a drop ship wholesaler.

  • Drop Shipper Quality: You will also have to select a drop shipper who is conscious of product quality and customer care. Otherwise, you might be flooded with complaints from your customers.

So proceed carefully, fully aware of the above success requirements.

Small Business Ideas & Goals

Image : http://www.flickr.com

When you're setting goals for your small business ideas, you really create your future in advance. You write down your goals, and mentally prepare yourself to do what ever it takes to realize them.

The first step is to define your goal. You have to get clarity of :

  • Exactly what you want

  • When you want it

  • Why you want it

Now, there you have your goal. And it's very important that you make it detailed and specified. If you're not absolutely clear about what your goal is, you can't commit to it.

It will not be enough to keep your small business goal in your head. You have to write it down, try to make a picture with words, the more vivid your goal is the more effective it will be.

When you create your goal, you have to be realistic. Is it possible to make it work and come true? You must really believe that you can reach it. You must have faith in your goal. If you think or believe that you can't realize your small business ideas, that will be self fulfilling.

You must have faith in yourself. You must have faith in your goals. You must know deep inside that you can accomplish your small business ideas and your goals.

You need to determine what your goals are gonna cost you, what are your goals worth? How important are your goals? Do you want, do you need or would it be nice achieve them?

To be able to reach your goals you must make them a burning desire. You need to feel that you must achieve your small business goals. No matter what, you have to get your goals.

If you can create that state of mind, your subconscious mind will help you to make your goals a reality. It will give you ideas and show you the actions you have to take.

Divide your long term goal into several short term goals. That will help you to gain motivation as you achieve your short term goals one by one. You will build momentum with each accomplished goal.

Anytime you do reach your short term goals, you need to reward yourself. This will build your self esteem and you will start picture yourself as a person who can achieve any goal.

The Next Productivity Breakthrough

Image : http://www.flickr.com

As companies claw their way out of the doldrums of The Great Recession the time is rapidly approaching to prepare for the next wave of growth. Traditionally, this means ramping up the hiring process, investing in new technology, or a combination of both. As we attempt to catch the upswing out of the trough of the most recent business cycle, many enlightened companies are looking in another direction to increase their productivity and capacity. They're looking inside of their companies for the resources they'll need to drive growth in the coming years.

A leading international research and consulting firm that has been tracking employee engagement levels for a decade indicates less than thirty percent of a typical company's employees are fully engaged with their employer. A fully engaged employee is a person that shows up with passion and maintains a strong emotional and intellectual connection with their employer. The other seventy-one percent? Well, a typical company can anticipate well over fifty percent of their associates are not emotionally engaged with their company. In effect, they're sleepwalking through most of their day, going along to get along. About a sixth of an organization's associates are actually working at cross purpose with their fellow associates and the company, actively destroying the value others are trying to create. In fact, our own internal research indicates a typical American company is only enjoying a return on investment on approximately forty-three percent of their payroll dollars. And that is giving the sleepwalkers in the company the benefit of the doubt that they're contributing value half of the time they're at work (additional independent research actually supports this figure). In addition, a report by the AP this winter indicated forty-five percent of employees were dissatisfied with their jobs.

In today's highly dynamic, global economy, intellectual property is the driver of value creation in business. Whether a company is engaged in biotechnology, information technology, telecommunications, health care, or professional services, human beings and their intellectual contributions are the raw material for production. If we go back a generation, how many manufacturing concerns would accept a fifty-seven percent scrap rate on raw materials used in their factories? That's exactly what is happening in many companies today! Employee disengagement is a crisis which is eroding many firm's competitive capabilities. In crisis, however, lies opportunity.

The solution lies in re-engaging the sleepwalkers. Very few people show up to work everyday wanting to fail, but a sizable percentage of the American workforce has been conditioned not to take risks, to do just enough to get by, and to keep their heads down lest they risk having them lopped off in the next reorganization or merger frenzy. These employees can, however, be re-engaged and emerge as passionate, contributing associates. I've experienced this firsthand, and it can be done in surprisingly short order!

The solution resides in the hands of leadership. Research indicates the only statistically significant difference between inspirational leadership and mediocre management is authentically caring about your people. By aligning the genuine welfare of associates in balance with performance, remarkable and rapid shifts in employee engagement begin to emerge. Through open, authentic, and continuous two-way communication, the introduction of Professional Development Plans, and through the simple expression of gratitude and appreciation, a disengaged workforce can show dramatic signs of improvement in a few short months. And this is where the productivity breakthrough emerges!

Companies can proactively sidestep the cost of employee turnover, training new employees, and the productivity lags associated with expanding the workforce by simply engaging the trained, experienced workforce that is already in place. Imagine the impact on the bottom line when companies experience a fifty, seventy-five, or even one hundred percent increase in productivity without increasing payroll! This is the opportunity that is laying quietly just beneath the surface; the hidden workforce yearning for inspiration and engagement.

Understanding Business Credit Cards

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Although business and personal credit cards are relatively similar in terms of general purpose, business credit cards also have a number of additional features which allow businesses to keep control and track of company expenditure.

Business cards are a great way to take care of everyday business expenses without the need to carry cheques or petty cash. A business credit card is issued in the name of a business and the debt is the responsibility of the company and not the individual using the card.

Company spending is channeled through a single account and management are provided with reports which include itemized listings of purchases. Controls can be used to limit the amount each authorized person can spend and restrictions can be put in place to prevent misuse such as cash withdrawals from ATM's. Simple features like these give business owners the peace of mind they need when it comes to one of the most important parts of a business - the cash flow.

Just like personal cards there are a number of options to choose from including low rate company credit cards, cards with large rewards and credit cards with interest free periods. Business Credit Cards may also come with complimentary features such as insurance and banking discounts.

Company cards are usually cheaper than cheques, more secure than carrying large sums of cash and provide separation of business and personal expenses. In our increasingly cashless society, they can also help save time and money with everything from online shopping and bill payment to corporate hospitality.

When it comes to choosing a business credit card, find a credit card which complements your business needs. Don't be afraid to shop around for the best deal or negotiate with your bank for a better deal. By evaluating and understanding your monthly expenses and business requirements, you will be able to determine a card which best suits your business needs and gives you the flexibility and control you deserve.

Chlorine Negative Effects Contained in Tap Water

Image : http://www.flickr.com

You should be aware when you use tap water for showering. Why? The answer lies with the amount of chlorine (Cl) presents in such water.

The major problem is that chlorine is a toxic element to the eyes, skin, and respiratory system. Chlorine vaporizes quickly in the air causes skin to dry, so many people, usually wealthy people, use chlorine water filter to maintain their skin condition especially when they're swimming and showering.

Now, studies have shown some negative effects that chlorine could cause. First, if you have an asthma, then chlorine is a bad news for you as it vapors easily in the air and the vaporized element triggers your asthma. In the US, the water is contained with chlorine that exceeds the limit that considered to be safe.

If you are pregnant, then chlorine tap water could defect your baby as chlorination forms a cancer-causing byproduct called THMs. Although there are researchers still arguing about this subject, you should take more cautious step for your own and baby's health. I prefer to take the safest way, of course.

Now then, you may be thinking to drink such water is more dangerous than to make skin contact with it. Unfortunately (or fortunately) that assumption is wrong in some aspects. Researchers believe that the carcinogenic THMs is accumulated in your body through your skin. That part alone is pretty dangerous as human skin is not easily penetrated by soluble element, but chlorine CAN.

Originally, chlorine is used as bactericidal element which kills bacteria, but studies have shown that chlorine actually triggers bacteria in your skin to release their byproducts which usually harmful to us. Not only that, chlorine reaction with antibacterial soap also triggers bacteria to produce their byproducts even more. It is a fact that the byproducts are often the most dangerous part of pathogenic bacteria. So, if you really concern about your health, even if you are a healthy guy, you should really do something about this.

Now, not all shower water filters on the market remove THMs. Most of them reduce only chlorine, since that was the initial reason that people wanted them.

Only two products on the market effectively reduce chlorine, THMs and other chemical contaminants, as well as the heavy metal lead and the stain causing copper. One costs only $67. The other costs over $200.

It is made by the Wellness Company and the claims that the company makes are exaggerated. There is simply no reason to spend that kind of money.

Hopefully, that covers the question of how dangerous is tap water for showering. It's not a problem, as long as you have effective shower water filters in your home.

Patent Attorney

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Who are patent attorneys and what do they do? Patent Lawyers are basically attorneys who are registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. They are also licensed to practice law in at least one state bar or bar association. And you should know that Patent Law is the only area of law requiring a separate license.

In other words, theoretically, any attorney can practice tax law, water law, criminal defense, personal injury, etc. Even though these different areas of law all require years of highly specialized training and separate bodies of knowledge and skill sets, any attorney can practice any of those disparate fields of law.

In terms of education, patent attorneys are required to have a "hard science" degree to even be allowed to sit for the USPTO bar exam. This hard science degree means a science degree with difficult lab courses such as organic chemistry, engineering, physics, biotechnology, or thermodynamics. The USPTO will not consider a degree in Political Science to be a science degree acceptable for the Patent Bar Exam.

In addition to the science degree, patent lawyers are required to be licensed with at least one state bar or bar association (there is a small difference between the two). This means that they will have a three year law degree from a law school. It also means that they will have to pass a state bar exam. The state bar exam can be anywhere from two to three days at about twelve to eighteen hours. By contrast, the patent bar exam is a one day, six hour exam.

Run Your Own Modeling Agency - Where to Start

Image : http://www.flickr.com

To run your own modeling agency, it used to be a largely expensive and time consuming business venture. These days, with computers and the internet, much of the time consuming parts involving communications and record keeping have largely become almost nullified. Using these to run your own modeling agency also cuts down on costs, so that what used to cost thousands of dollars in start up capital now only needs a small few hundred at most, especially if you decided to set up shop out of a home office.

When you run your own modeling agency, there are two major and very important ways to run such a business - professionally, and ethically. This is of paramount importance. Your reputation in this field will spread like wildfire by word of mouth. This can either be a very good thing for your business, or it can be very, very bad. You'll find that when you run your own modeling agency, to do so unprofessionally or unethically would be professional suicide in today's world.

The two major activities you will perform when you run your own modeling agency is finding the talent to represent, and then finding work for these talented people. Now, finding the talent can be fairly easy enough. Just look around you. Many people wishing to break into the modeling field try to get discovered by taking on jobs they've found themselves, like working at auto shows, trade shows, department stores selling perfumes and cosmetics, and so on.

You can even find these types of talented people walking about right at the beach... usually, they are those who show up in very trendy swimsuits, but they try not to tan and they tend to stay away from the water. When you run your own modeling agency, you develop an eye for these talented people.

Finding work for those you represent in this field is not difficult, as the resources are plentiful. When you run your own modeling agency, you'll learn how to access them all. You can find them placements in magazine ads, online video ads, showroom presentations, business launches, mass transit ads, catalogs, runways, clothing store ads, photo shoots, TV commercials and more. There's almost no end to the resources to be had. Would you like to learn more?

Building your own Talent Agency from home can be a daunting task, but with the right help its a lot easier than you think! Synergy Talent can guide you through every step of the process - For more information head over to www.squidoo.com/synergytalentreview

Bring in Crowds of Shoppers to Build Dollar Store Sales

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Have you ever wondered how some businesses just seem to have some strategy that works like a magnet to attract more and more shoppers to their business all the time? They just seem to have the right touch when it comes to business growth. If you are starting a dollar store this is one of the important traits to build into your business. The bigger the crowd you can consistently attract into your store the higher the sales. It is more than simply having more people inside your store.

There is just something that happens as shoppers watch each other crowd around a display filled with new and different merchandise. As the frenzy grows shoppers are all afraid they are going to miss out on something they simply must own. And that frenzy carries over as shoppers continue to weave their way through your store. Everyone seems to buy just a little more than they planned as they want to make sure they all have the best deals you are offering. If you are starting a dollar store your goal must be to create that type of environment. After all the more merchandise that shoppers select the higher the total dollar store sale levels for your business.

The secret to making this situation occur time and again in your store is to first bring mobs of traffic into your store. Then they must find exciting different merchandise just waiting. It is that combination that will generate dollar store sales and profits for your business. You can take the action to make this happen or you can wait on the sidelines and hope something good happens for your store.

Control your destiny by creating a comprehensive business and marketing plan when starting a dollar store. Make sure your plan is filled with actions you will take to generate bus loads of traffic. Include actions that don't require huge amounts of money to implement. Simple actions such as A-Frame signs or permanent signs at all parking lot entrances, banners and flags along the front of your store, rolling display baskets filled with brightly colored merchandise just outside the front door, employees standing on the busiest street corners close to your store with signs and banners pointing the way to you store, are a good place to start.

Be sure to budget money for advertising and promotion of your store on an ongoing basis. Always focus on creating a warm and inviting shopping environment. Make sure your front windows are filled with huge displays of merchandise. Do everything in your power to bring traffic inside your store and then to please that traffic with just the items they wish to purchase.

To your success when starting a dollar store!

7 Tips on How to Generate More Contractor Leads - Do You Want to Keep Your Company From Going Under?

Image : http://www.flickr.com

1 - Word Of Mouth - This is definitely the way I generate most of my business. Always remember that your quality of work reflects you and will go long way in ensuring you have a successful future. I find that a happy customer will gladly recommend you to their family and friends (sometimes they are even excited to) and those recommendations will only lead to more and more business. Just remember that an unhappy customer will absolutely let their family and friends know about you, and you don't want that!

2 - Advertise - Now this doesn't have to mean billboards or full page ads in the yellow pages which if you have ever looked into can be quite costly. There are usually great small scale local adverts to put your name in they are budget friendly and in my experience I believe people find them more trustworthy than bigger publications.

3 - Ask What the Customer Needs - There have been many times I have done a job for someone lets say some carpentry and just during conversation they will learn of another one of my skills I can't tell you how often I've heard the phrase "Wow you do that too" and it has easily led me to another job and therefore more money.

4 - The Business Card - This may be one of the most important tools for generating more jobs although technically it is a form of advertising I think it deserves it's own spot. I always made sure I had a stack of business cards with me either tucked into my wallet, toolbox or glove box. You never know when or where you will run into a prospective client and being able to readily hand them your card I believe shows a level of professionalism they appreciate. Make sure your cards have all of your contact info i.e. phone number, website (if you have one) and email address (I get a lot of correspondence through email) and make sure cards clearly define what services you offer. It also may help if you add a company slogan something your customer can remember and identify you with like "No Job Too Small" or "Let Us Get It Done" or whatever you want.

5 - Do Some Legwork - I can assure you no one is going to knock on your door and offer you a job get out there and pound some pavement. Sometimes on a nice day I will just take a walk knock on some doors and introduce myself to people (just don't be too intrusive nobody wants to listen to a ten minute sales pitch while they are eating lunch). Just be friendly and to the point I often did this after I finished or during a job I would visit a few neighbors and let them know who I was and what I do. Chances are they will ask there neighbor about my work (that's where number 1 comes in). Or I have a yard sale addiction and people are always looking to make conversation at a yard sale nothing better than getting some great used stuff and a lead on some work (in my opinion).

5 - A Thank You For A Referral - If a previous customer of mine gave out a referral for me I would make sure to say thank you. Depending on the size of the referred job this could be a simple thank you card a gift basket or a discount on future services (some of my customers had repeat maintenance type business) people will appreciate the thanks and I believe be more apt to give you a referral in the future.

6 - Take Advantage Of Your Resources - Some programs found on the internet can be well worth their value. Sometimes a little investment can go a long way. Remember the more new leads you can generate the more word of mouth business you will get and that equals more jobs in the future.

7 - Estimate Your Time And Value Correctly - Although not really a way to generate leads nothing is worse than realizing you have underbid a job and customers don't appreciate if you say estimate a week and it turns into a month. I can admit these things have happened to me and I can tell you I did not feel good about working for less money than I deserved (although I stuck to my price) and the job that ran too long well they may have been satisfied with the quality of work they received but it did not lead to any other jobs for me.

Don't give up on your dream of being your own boss. You can keep your company going. There are programs available to help you get the job leads that you are looking for. If you want a 100% guaranteed way to get more contractor leads than check out My Blog!

Forensic Science Technicians

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Forensic science technicians investigate crimes by collecting and then analyzing physical evidence found at the crime scene. They often specialize in areas such as DNA analysis or firearm examination, performing tests on weapons or on substances such as fiber, glass, hair, tissue, and body fluids to determine their significance to the investigation. Proper collection and storage methods of evidence are important to protect their validity. They also prepare reports to document their findings and the laboratory techniques used, and also provide valuable information and expert opinions to investigators.

When criminal cases come for trial, forensic science technicians often testify, as expert witnesses, on specific laboratory findings by identifying and classifying substances, materials, and other evidence collected at the scene of a crime. Some forensic science technicians often work closely with other experts or technicians. A forensic science technician may consult a medical expert about the exact time and cause of a death or a technician who specializes in DNA typing in hopes of matching a DNA type to a suspect.

Most employers prefer applicants who have at least two years of specialized training or associate degrees in applied science or science-related technology. Others prefer applicants with bachelor's degrees in chemistry, biology, or forensic science. Career preparation in forensic science is also available through two year formal training programs that combine the teaching of scientific principles and theory with practical hands-on application in a laboratory setting with up-to-date equipment. Science technicians must have strong communications skills and should be able to work well with others. Excellent organizational ability, an eye for detail, and skill in interpreting scientific results are also important. Technicians usually begin work as trainees in routine positions, under the direct supervision of a scientist or an experienced technician. As they gain experience, they take on more responsibility and carry out assignments only under general supervision, and some eventually become supervisors.

On a typical day, a forensic science technician might perform some of the following duties - examine, test and analyze tissue samples, chemical substances, physical materials, and ballistics evidence, using recording, measuring, and testing equipment; interpreting laboratory findings and test results to identify and classify substances, materials, and other evidence collected from the crime scene; collect and preserve criminal evidence used to solve cases; confer with ballistics, fingerprinting, handwriting, documents, electronics, medical, chemical, or metallurgical experts concerning evidence and its interpretation; reconstruct the crime scene to determine relationships among pieces of evidence; prepare reports or presentations of findings, investigative methods, or laboratory techniques and even testify as expert witness on evidence or laboratory techniques in trials or hearings.

And don't worry if you get resistance early on - you're the sysadmin. You hold all the cards. Eventually, all will fall in line because...well, they really don't have a choice now, do they?

1. Look for spaces at the side and corners of the office and fill with boxes.

Whether it be monitors, computers, or empty boxes, who cares? Just throw them in!

2. Put all items for repair on the floor and on your desk.

Just keep filling those spaces up...

3. Do not vacuum around. Ever.

It doesn't matter, you won't be able to see much of the floor anyway.

4. Put the office phone in the most awkward place.

If you're not stretching over something, it's not good enough.

5. Daisy chain as many extension leads as possible.

Don't ask, just plug.

6. Have at least 20 network cables trailing somewhere...

As long as a couple reach your desk, it's OK!

7. Nearly fall flat on your face at least once a week.

Tripping on things is all part of the fun.

8. Keep very old items on your noticeboard.

1999? 2000? That staff notice will surely come in handy at some point... And remember, TPS Report references never get old!

9. Find a space for coffee making.

Essential. Even it's on top of a computer. Just don't use your CD-Rom slot as a coffee holder!

10. When health and safety do a surprise inspection...

Explain that you are "in the middle of a clean up"

11. Have a few stacks of random unlabeled disks

Is it a ghost disk? A server disk? A driver disk? No one knows, so just burn another one.

12. Randomly seed your office with trade show swag.

Plushies? Pens? A stuffed Tux? A "New Hampshire Live Free or Die" UNIX plate? A fluke Magic 8-Ball network troubleshooter? If they're free, your non-IT co-workers will take them!

Biology Book Review - Human Anatomy and Physiology

Image : http://www.flickr.com

It's amazing that so few people understand the human body, especially considering that they live within it. It's perhaps the only thing you can truly say that you completely own. Many kids in school do not get an adequate education in biology, which is a travesty considering the full-importance of health care, longevity and living free from disease.

If you are one of the millions of Americans who have received less of an education on this subject than you think you need then may I please recommend an extremely valuable and easy to understand book for you?

"Human Anatomy and Physiology" by Kent M. Van de Graaff, R. Ward Rhees, Patricia Brady Wilhelm; 2001

This work boasts a crash course in biology, specifically human anatomy and physiology. The book is part of the Schaum's Easy Outline series and includes exercise questions, tips for mastering the physiology and human anatomy topic, and everything a student will need to pass a college course or final examine in the subject. The book is jam packed with information from the introduction forward.

Learn about the cell structure, tissue and cellular chemistry of the human body in the first few chapters and then the books goes on to explain the central nervous system and skeletal system, as well as the integration of the muscular components. The cardiovascular system and blood flow from the heart to the other organs. The respiratory system is completely described.

Learn how the body digests, gets rid of waste and metabolizes the food delivering the nutrients. Understand the body's use of water and electrolyte balance. Understand the miraculous reproductive system and how the life cycle continues.

The Stock Market Investing Basics

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Through stock market investing, you can proactively use your money in order to increase your initial investment; in other words, you can make your money work to your advantage. Stock investments do not work in the same manner as savings accounts. Although both stock market investing and savings accounts both use the compounding principle, savings accounts are inactive ways of investing with a more narrowed focus on the safety of your principle investing amount as opposed to the subsequent return.

If you invest in a company's stock shares, you in essence become a part owner of that company. If the company gives out profit dividends, you will receive your portion, which is referred to as a dividend income.

The Best Method of Stock Market Investing

First of all, you can easily eat away at your time by budgeting. So as an alternative to expense tracking, which can be quite complicated, you will simply use the financial strategy of paying yourself first. As a general rule, it is wise to split your intended investment amount by applying 30% to various blue chip companies and 20% to several high dividend yields.

Managing Your Portfolio

Another aspect of stock market investing is managing your portfolio. Begin by considering products and services used in everyday life. Take notice as to what consumers use on a daily basis and this will give you insight into the companies who provide these products and services. Learn about their business models as well as general information that pertains to them.

You should also take a look at their profit-loss statement and balance sheet, business profitability, on-hand cash, and the company director's and auditor's reports. Other factors to consider are the company's management team, asset returns, equity returns, price to earning ratio, and their previous five years of credit history.

If all of these aspects appear to be in great shape, you should invest in that company. When it comes to choosing specific companies, look for those involved in industries such as oil and gas, energy, service sector, FMCG, pharmaceuticals, banking, biotechnology, insurance, entertainment, and IT.

Stock Market Investing Philosophy

Your stock market investing philosophy should be to have a small piece of ownership for 10-20 years in a company. This type of philosophy will bring you a great return over time. You should use approximately 5% of your funds for option trading, which is essentially a way to not only hedge your assets, but also earn speculative gains.

Other Stock Market Investing Tricks

There are other tricks you can use when investing in the stock market. Keep the amount of the savings you invest capped at 50%. Also, while it is imperative to engage in speculative investments, if you want to make significant sums of money, keep you investments equal to one-tenth of your portfolio. Never let personal greed influence your investing decisions. Selling under a state of panic is never wise. Always make sure you have a thorough understanding of the market's current state, what companies you decide to invest in, and the reasons behind your investment decisions.

Eat Right For Your Health - Specially Formulated For Your Blood Type

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Have you ever wonder why many people are plagued by poor health and deterioration due to aging, while others seem to live healthy and vital lives even in life?

Many of these biological differences can now be explained by the science of Blood Type. Long term consumption of improper diet that does not suit to blood type can lead to auto-intoxication, disruption of normal physiological function and hormone imbalance.

A well known expert of naturopathy, Dr Peter D'adamo had suggested as association between blood group and food, body weight and diseases. He also further explained that human blood groups determine the type of food needed by your body. Professor in Diabetes, Dr Parker Lewe from Seattle University, also stated that, individual body varies from one to another, thus certain foods might not suitable for everyone.

Your blood is the key to unlock the door to the mysteries of health, diseases, longevity, physical vitality and emotional strength, and it determines your susceptibility to illness with regard to what foods we should eat. Whenever you eat, a chemical reaction occurs between your blood and the foods or supplements you take. Food contains protein called lectins. Your body is genetically programmed to reject or accept certain lectins.

Suggested by Dr Peter D'adamo, when you eat a food containing protein lectins that are incompatible with your blood type antigen, the lectins target an organ or bodily systems (kidney, liver, brain, stomach, etc) and begin to agglutinate blood cells in that area. Many food lectins have characteristics that are close enough to a certain blood antigen to make it an enemy to another.

For example, milk has B-like qualities, if a person with Type A blood drinks it, their system will immediately start the agglutinating process and reject it. The process can bring the imbalances in your digestion, metabolism and immune system.

It was in the early 90's that World Health Organization (WHO) was working on the correlation between blood groups and certain diseases and found that peptic ulcer, a condition often related to the amount of stomach acid levels was reported to be more common in people with Type O blood while stomach cancer with Type A blood.

Good and Bad about Lectins:

GOOD: Agglutinate with other germs and harmful invaders for proper removal by the immune systems. This happens when cancer cells or a population of pathogens forced to stick together for better disposal by natural defense system.

BAD: Food that renders beneficial for one blood type may be an enemy to other type. Agglutination in long term will cause chronic problems such as diseases and complications to organs late in life.

Research also confirmed that eating the right food can:

o Feel light and energetic with no bloating and lethargic.

o Prevent chronic diseases.

o Avoid mental and physical deterioration due to aging.

o Increase our metabolic rate.

o Reduce stress.

o Be healthy with problem free skin.

Blood type influences every area of your physiology and cellular level. It has everything to do with how you digest your food, your ability to response to stress, your mental state, your efficiency of your metabolism, and the strength of your immune system.

You can greatly improve your health, vitality and be emotionally stable by knowing your blood (O, A, B or AB) and by proper diet and lifestyle based on the genetic and blood research.

Stimulate Your Small Business With Obama's Stimulus Package

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Like the pot of gold at the end of the recession rainbow, Obama's stimulus package, also known as The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, could be the solution to businesses far and wide, small and large, in the current economic situation.

Dedicated to scientific research, energy programs, school districts, contractors and Medicaid in conjunction with creating millions of new jobs, the $787 billion economic recovery package is the lunch room gossip heard throughout the country. Who is going to be eligible for the money, how does one go about bidding for it and how much would one receive are all important questions being asked by business owners.

Good news - the federal assistance is for everyone, especially business owners facing significant challenges. This is even a great opportunity for small companies to step up and compete for business with larger corporations. With the plan in place, smaller companies will have an opportunity to bid competitively where previously their capabilities may have restricted them compared to the "big boys." Learn how to take advantage of the stimulus package via the following 7 benefits offered to small businesses.

SBA Guaranteed Loans With Obama's stimulus package on the horizon, small businesses around the country can now rest assured knowing that the Small Business Administration (SBA) will guarantee 100% of loans up to $35,000 without requiring payment for one year. With the $426,000,000 authorized to the SBA to loan out to small businesses - the stimulus package could definitely be that saving grace for you and your company.

Good-Bye to High Interest Rates For small businesses who currently have a loan that is locked in at a high interest rate, the stimulus package is of great benefit to you. The SBA will be authorized to refinance small business loans as long as they were issued before the stimulus package was passed and are less than $10,000,000.

Ability to Increase Investments Up from 300% of a company's private capital or $15 million (whichever is less), to 300% of a company's private capital or $150 million as the maximum amount that a small business can invest; the stimulus package allows companies the ability to invest more in their company's future. By increasing the cap at which a company can invest, businesses can spend more in business development and securing a position in the marketplace. Whether you increase professional development, heavy-up marketing efforts or reallocate funds in struggling departments, the stimulus package can help.

Procurement Opportunities With many large companies looking to also cut costs right now, outsourcing work or bidding for services are becoming popular. Many procurement offices are offering up more Request for Proposal's or RFP's for companies to bid on along with adding a certain percentage required to outsource to minority companies. With these opportunities opening up, small businesses and minority business enterprises will be able to greatly benefit from the stimulus package.

Vital Tax Breaks With this recovery package, companies will be able to immediately write off 50% of the cost (up to $250,000) of new business equipment this year. Small businesses can also make a win out of loss with this package. Any business with less than $15 million annual revenue can now carry back net operating losses for five years instead of the previous two. This means that a business who is currently losing money can apply these loses to a previous year where the business made out well and then claim a refund on those taxes paid during that specific year.

Internet Improvement Grants With the passing of Obama's stimulus plan comes many different types of grants for small businesses. One of the more important is the grant to improve broadband access or online abilities. The world is becoming digital and this package recognizes that fact and sets out to aid in whatever way it can.

Construction Contractors Lucky Day From transportation projects to road construction to housing development, this is the time for all contractors to up their marketing to the government sector. With informative brochures, innovatively designed pocket folders and updated capability statements, many small construction companies have the ability to shine with the government through this new stimulus package.

However you choose to utilize the stimulus package passed by Obama this year, there is a solution for you out there.

Studies Don't Implicate GM Crops In Honeybees Disappearance

Around April this year, a rumor mill somewhere churned out a charge that genetically modified (GM) crops were responsible for mass disappearances of honeybees. Code-named colony collapse disorder, the puzzle-story fast gained traction in the blogsphere and mainly web sites of anti-biotech groups such as the Greenpeace, Friends of the Earth and Organic Consumer Association (OCA).

OCA, perhaps, exuded the most exuberance at the news. It amplified a blog entry on the Celsias Blog, which argued that honeybees were bound to disappear because of their contact with "...substances they shouldn't have to deal with - pesticides, herbicides, antibiotics, and pollen from genetically modified crops."

OCA further ran another article, originally published on the web site of Malaysia-based Pesticide Action Network Action Network Asia and the Pacific (PAN AP), which quoted one Dr Ricarda Steinbrecher, a UK-based genetic scientist, saying:

Nobody knows why the bees are dying. There is evidence though that GE crops contribute to this, in particular insect resistant crops producing the Bt-toxin. Though healthy bees do not seem to be affected by Bt pollen, a scientist called Hans-Hinrich Kaatz in Germany has found that bees infested with parasites and fed with Bt pollen were affected and died at a high rate. Beekeepers have for years reported that honeybees suffer from high rates of parasites and diseases. As reported last week in a German journal [Der Spiegel], this resembles new evidence that Bt pollen is a contributing factor in the death of the bees. The areas where the bees have disappeared have a lot of Bt crops being grown there. We don't think this is a coincidence. No one would ever have thought that this could have been an outcome of Bt and yet here we are. Not only do we not know exactly how this interaction happened, we don't know how to deal with it or stop it or even if we can.

To not be left out of the debate, I highlighted an article in the journal Science, which discounted fears that GM crops were responsible for honeybees disappearance. GMO Pundit Blog did the same. Two days ago, the New York Times published study findings by a group of entomologists that implicate a bee disease called Israeli acute paralysis virus in the acute colony disorder. The study is available in Science Express, the online edition of journal Science.

These scientific findings are significant in that they disambiguate the cause(s) of honeybees disappearance. Those linking GM crops to the acute colony disorder, it's hoped, have learned a lesson. The studies also uphold the role of science in the debate about GM crops.

History of Biotechnology

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Biotechnology has been practiced for thousands of years. It dates back to when man first learned how to plant crops or breed animals. The discovery of fermentation defined its beginning. The natural process involved microorganisms for the production of food and medicine. The method included making cheese and yogurt from milk; converting fruit juices into wine; leavening bread; and making beer, which the Egyptians recorded as a prescription medicine in 1600 B.C. Archeologists reveal that these early practices has were around between 5,000 to 10,000 B.C.

In 1919, a Hungarian engineer named Karl Ereky coined the word biotechnology. During that time, all techniques were referred to as production with the help of living organisms. By the end of nineteen century, the work of Gregor Mendel on traits and inheritance promoted the concept of the science through selective breeding. Humans then learned to select and grow the plants with bigger and sweeter fruits and tried to breed only healthy animals.

The 1970s pioneered modern biotechnology. Herb Boyer and Stanley Cohen demonstrated the generation of human genes with the aid of bacteria in 1973. Genetically modified (GM) bacteria were able to produce human insulin. The breakthrough led to the first vaccine for Hepatitis B.

The Human Genome Project in the1980s, was believed to be the most ambitious scheme. It was a plan to map out the human genome. It provided information about the roles of genes and how they compliment each other. The first draft was released in 2000. In 1985, genetic fingerprints began as credible evidence in the courtroom. Later on, forensic science became a protocol in investigations.

In 1994, scientists were able to identify the gene that determines gender. Eventually, the gay gene was found a few years later. Moreover, cloning was materialized in 1996, with Dolly the sheep.

Stem cells from human embryo were grown in laboratories starting in 2000. It was claimed that its potentials would extend to the development of a cure for diabetes and Parkinson's disease.

Presently, DNA technology has become the latest trend in science. Its application in many fields has achieved another level. With the support of research, it endures innovation despite the ethical debates that come along with it.

Be a Leader: Use Environmentally Friendly Products in Your Cleaning Business

Many building service contractors are aware that green cleaning is a hot topic these days due to health and safety concerns by building owners and managers. We see increasing amounts of recycling bins in the buildings we clean, which is a sign that people are becoming more environmentally conscious. Steps are also being taken to reduce or eliminate the use of hazardous and toxic chemicals in many industries. As a janitorial contractor you can be a leader in your industry by exploring the many excellent environmentally preferable products available on the market today.

If the cleaning products you are using contain any of the following chemicals, you may be putting yourself, your employees, your customers, and the environment at risk.

Nonylphenoxpolyethoxyethanol, Nonylphenols and NPE/APE surfactants:
These provide detergency to remove soil from a variety of surfaces. Although effective, they are petroleum-based products that may contain traces of ethylene oxide, which is a suspected carcinogen. NPE's have been shown to cause disruption to the endocrine system in aquatic species and are suspected of doing so in humans. The endocrine system is a series of glands, including the male and female reproductive glands, which secrete hormones. Endocrine disruption may be linked to birth defects. You may find the above chemicals in air fresheners, all-purpose cleaners, carpet spotters, disinfectant cleaners, floor strippers, and washroom fixture cleaners.

Glycol Butyl Ethers:
This product is very effective on water-soluble dirt as well as water-insoluble oils and greases. The drawbacks are that it is very irritating to the respiratory tract and eyes. It also reacts violently with strong mineral acids and is not biodegradable. You may find this product in air fresheners, carpet spotters, floor finish removers, food service cleaners, glass cleaners and heavy-duty cleaners.

Phosphates:
Phosphates are used in products to soften water, maintain alkalinity levels, suspend dirt and increase cleaning efficiency. It can become an environmental hazard if dumped into a closed body of water, which leads to the potential for excessive algae growth. Excessive algae growth can lead to the depletion of oxygen levels and can eventually kill aquatic life. This product may be found in all-purpose cleaners, carpet spotters, disinfectant cleaners and heavy-duty cleaners.

Xylene:
Is a petroleum based product which is non biodegradable, flammable, must be disposed of as hazardous waste and requires solvent clean up. It is commonly used to reduce or thin solvent coatings such as concrete coatings. High levels of inhalation can cause loss of consciousness and even death. Exposure over long periods of time has the potential to cause damage to bone marrow eyes and stomach.

Dibutyl Phthalate:
This product is a known endocrine disrupter. It has shown to cause a high frequency of birth defects in some aquatic species. It is also suspected of having the same potential in humans. You can normally find this chemical in resilient tile coatings.

These are a few examples of the hazardous chemicals that may be found in conventional cleaning products. If you are concerned about what's in the cleaning products you are using, consult your Material Safety Data Sheets. They should list the ingredients and the potential health and flammability risks.

Rumor has it that there will be a mandate to use environmentally preferable products in all federal buildings as early as this year. Whether it happens this year or not, the fact of the matter is that it will happen. There are many proven environmentally preferable products on the market today. One place you can find them and find answers to any questions you may have is at http://www.TheJanitorialStore.com .

You can also use environmentally preferable products as sales tools, as more and more people are becoming increasingly concerned about our environment and the environment they work in. Be a leader in your industry by taking steps to implement safer cleaning products and provide a healthier atmosphere for yourself, your employees, your customers, and the environment

Vending Business Opportunities Have Two Great Myths

Joe was out walking one day, wondering how he could make more of a profit. As it was, it seemed difficult to raise his family off the income he was making. However, his full time job didn't allow him to work much more. Joe simply sighed, went to the vending machine and bought his favorite soda.

It was at this point that Joe realized something. Why couldn't he own a few vending machines in order to make profit? Unfortunately, Joe had heard some things about the vending machine business that were not so good. He set the thought aside and walked back to his office building.

However, the idea kept nagging at Joe. So, he decided to look up the truth about vending business opportunities. At this point, he found the two major myths that he was thinking about when he had bought his soda. However, to his surprise, the myths were not as true as he thought they were.

The first thought that had gone through Joe's mind is that he wouldn't be able to profit off of a vending business. It was very clear to him that people would only be giving you their quarters from their pocket. How could you make a profit off of this? It was soon after Joe began looking at the facts that he found these quarters added up to a $30 billion dollar industry.

The major way that this myth was set aside was through the several stories that Joe found of people who had full time jobs just working with vending machine business opportunities. He found that the investment did not need to be more than $500 to begin. By beginning small, it was easy to start collecting the coins. After doing this for a while, vending business owners would expand, find a route for their vending machines, and let the quarters role in.

However, Joe still had some doubts. He had heard along the way that vending machines had large competition. He knew from personal experience that it was easy to find a vending machine in almost every corner. He also was uncertain about how long this type of competition could last. After all, technology was changing quickly and there were more opportunities to find vending products in other places, not a vending machine.

Much to Joe's surprise, this was also just a rumor. Even though the vending machine business was growing, it seemed as though there was always room for more. Some even said that it was best to put your vending machine by the competition in order to offer different quality products. Because the techniques in the vending machine business were different, it allowed for endless products to be displayed, without the competition.

Joe thought for a while, than began to disregard the myths about vending machine business opportunities. He now saw that vending machines could lead to a substantial income, no matter what the circumstances. However, Joe was not quite sold on the idea. He continued to research and think about how this type of investment would affect him.
